Each pick is graded against whoever was actually still on the board at that moment - 0 means it was the best real option available (highlighted green); more negative means a clearly better option was passed over. This applies the same way to every position, including a backup QB/K/DST - there's no penalty just for already having a starter there, since a backup has real value (bye weeks, injury, a bad matchup). Weight scales the value by how early the pick was made: round 1 counts 12x as much as round 12, and rounds 13-16 taper down further to barely matter at all.
